Broomcorn and pumpkins, painters on Main Street, haunted barns on Friday nights and the hardwoods of Big Hill Pond turning gold.
The festivals and nights that make autumn here.

A celebration of Southern handcraft on the third Saturday of September at Hockaday Handmade Brooms & Farm on Highway 142 in Selmer. First launched in 1996 and revived in 2025, it brings craft demonstrations, music, food and family fun, cosponsored by fourth-generation broom maker Jack Martin of Hockaday Brooms and Arts in McNairy.

Building on the popular Pumpkin Festival, the Harvest Festival fills the Selmer Farmers Market and historic downtown with the colors and food of the season.

McNairy County's annual downtown plein air festival: artists set up their easels on the streets of historic Adamsville and paint the town in a day, with vendors and a community celebration around them.
Every October the county gets a little spooky.

A haunted house attraction in Ramer, open Friday and Saturday nights through October.

Spooky treats, a spooky trail, hay rides and fall games after dark at Big Hill Pond State Park.

Adamsville's Trick or Treat Trail through City Park, Michie's trunk-or-treat and Selmer's Halloween street party downtown.

For leaf season, climb the 70-foot observation tower at Big Hill Pond State Park and look out over the hardwoods and Travis McNatt Lake, then walk the boardwalk through the Dismal Swamp. Make it a weekend with a lake day at Pickwick.
