The Biggest Little Town in Tennessee — and the town the real Walking Tall sheriff called home.
Adamsville sits in northeastern McNairy County on Highway 64, and it wears its history proudly: this is the hometown of Sheriff Buford Pusser, whose life story became the Walking Tall films. His home on Pusser Street is preserved as a museum, and the town still honors its most famous neighbor every year.
Beyond the legend, Adamsville is a working small town with local cafes and coffee, a city park that hosts community celebrations, and some of the friendliest front porches in West Tennessee. It makes a natural base for day trips to Shiloh National Military Park and the Pickwick Lake country just east.
The sheriff's own home, kept as history remembers it — Adamsville's landmark and one of Tennessee's most personal museums.
